Studio Hours and Federal Holidays

Monday 3:00pm – 8:00 pm

Tuesday: Closed

Wednesday  3:00pm – 8:00pm

Thursday 3:00pm – 8:00pm

Friday 3:00pm – 8:00pm

Saturday – Closed

Sunday – Closed

The Studio will be closed for all Major Federal Holidays, Make up lessons are not available when the studio is closed for Federal Holidays and credits are not given for them.

These are the Federal Holidays that the studio will be closed on: Christmas, Thanksgiving, The 4th of July, Labor Day, Memorial Day, Presidents Day, and Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  Please check the website for exact dates and times of studio closure for the specific Holiday.

The Studio will be open during School Spring Break and College Spring Break.

All Classes are scheduled in either 30 minute, 45 minute, or 1 hour increments.(See Rates).  Every class begins on the hour or in 15 minute increments of the hour.

The Studio will be closed for 2 weeks during one of the summer months for Vacation.  The 2 week closure of the studio will be announced not later than 30 prior and will be posted on the website to assist students.

Missed Lessons and Make-up Policy

Beginning Sept 1, 2011 all Piano and Voice make up lessons will be online in the form of Music Theory exercises, Drills, Worksheets, and or Videos.  These online exercises, drills, and music theory will be challenging and at the level and experience level of the student and will available upon sign in at the Studio website.  Complete instructions and information as to how to access and do the exercises will be online as well.  Where applicable these make-up assignments are to be printed out and brought in for review and grading on the next scheduled in studio class.  A minimum 24 hour notice of absence is requested to insure that sufficient materials will be posted online for the student’s makeup that day or else the materials will be posted by the following day.  In case of illness notice is requested as soon as possible, preferably by 9:00am the day of the lesson.  Notification of absences may be made online, through the website, email, text message, or phone call.    

 Student Supplies and Materials Needed

 

At 5 Smooth Stones Music I structure the piano lessons around the desires and ambitions of the student.  So that every student that studies with me is not necessarily learning only to read music that leads to being able to play classical music if they so choose.  Non classical music is also taught using a method of music theory, chart reading and improvisation which is commonly known as playing by ear. The materials needed for a student that desires to study this type of music will be determined on a person by person basis depending on what we will specifically be learning and doing in class. 

 

For new students up to age 12, wanting to learn traditional piano (note reading) with new meaning that the student has not had previous piano lessons or is transferring from another teacher we will use:

For any students that have had prior lessons please bring the books you currently have or are using and I will determine what we will do from there.  For new students 13years old and above wanting to learn traditional piano (Note reading) with new meaning that the student has not had previous piano lessons or is transferring from another teacher we will use:
